The President of the Albanian National Council, Nevzad Lutfiu, stated that he presented himself at the police station in Bujanovc after being summoned by Serbian authorities regarding the protest organized on August 12 of this year. He explained that the reason for the summons was the installation of billboards without permission and the failure to pay the required tax.
Lutfiu added that the procedure was initiated based on an anonymous letter.
“This procedure was initiated by the Prosecutor’s Office as a result of an anonymous letter. I did not make a statement regarding this case because the proper procedure for the summons was not followed. I also raised my objections about the lack of a licensed translator in a city where Albanians make up over 60% of the population,” he wrote on Facebook.
According to the head of the Albanian National Council, Serbian authorities have not summoned “those who demand bombs to destroy the building of the Albanian National Council.”
“The greater the pressure to silence us, the greater our volume will be!” he added.
Albanian citizens in the Presheva Valley have held several protests, demanding not to be discriminated against by Serbian authorities.
