With only four days left for mandate-holder Albin Kurti to submit his proposal for a new government to the Kosovo Assembly, the ruling LVV party has yet to hold coalition talks with NISMA Socialdemokrate.

Currently, LVV, led by Kurti, holds 48 seats and, together with deputies from non-majority communities, can count on a maximum of 57 votes in the 120-member Assembly, short of the 61 votes required for a majority.

Deputy Arbëreshë Krasniqi confirmed that there have been no recent meetings between LVV and NISMA. She emphasized that NISMA’s condition for cooperation is the replacement of the Assembly Speaker, Dimal Basha.

We have a request that is already known. The only way NISMA can offer cooperation to LVV is for them to move from the Speaker position,” Krasniqi stated, adding that LVV has not responded to this request.

Krasniqi criticized the current Speaker, saying he is unfit to hold the position due to his historical and political background.

President Vjosa Osmani believes Kosovo still has time to form a new government and noted that Serb List is attempting to block the process. Osmani also stressed that coalition negotiations often happen behind closed doors, and their progress may not always be visible to the public.

The Serb List has filed another complaint with the Constitutional Court regarding the Assembly’s constitution. The Court confirmed the complaint is currently under review.

Albin Kurti received the mandate to form a government on October 11, 2025. While his focus initially was on local elections, he has announced plans to start government formation negotiations in the coming days.

We need to analyze results from the local centers to plan the upcoming rounds. We have more than 10 days to start the coalition process properly,” Kurti said on October 14, 2025.
