The Minister of Defense, Ejup Maqedonci, states that Milan Radoičić’s terrorist group, which carried out the attack in Banjska, remains organized. According to him, this still poses a risk to our country.
Maqedonci asserted that despite the establishment of calm, order, and law in the northern part of our country, security remains vulnerable and the risk is still present.
“Now we have greater deployment, order, and law, a cut in smuggling routes, and financial harm to our country. However, I believe that the risk remains present because members who were part of Radoičić’s group that conducted the terrorist attack against our country are still free. These members, paramilitaries, are in the Republic of Serbia and continue to remain organized,” he emphasized.
The Minister also mentioned the deployment of Serbian troops along the border with Kosovo, while affirming that Kosovo’s institutions remain vigilant to face possible threats.
“What also poses a risk in our country is the significant presence of Serbian troops in the south of Serbia, not far from the border with Kosovo. Three of the four mechanized brigades of the Serbian army are stationed in Raška, Niš, and Vranje, and these three brigades have their extended units along the border line with Kosovo. Twenty-eight advanced operational bases of the Serbian army are located at a distance of 300 meters to 5 km from the border line with Kosovo.
Furthermore, 20 gendarmerie bases are positioned along this line, and adding to this the lack of punishment for Radoičić’s group, I assess that despite the establishment of calm, order, and law in the northern part of our country, security remains vulnerable and the risk is still present. Therefore, our country, the security institutions, and the Kosovo army in this case will remain vigilant to face possible threats,” he asserted.
Meanwhile, Maqedonci said that in the last three years, there has been more law, security, and state administration in the northern part of the country.
“Naturally, in terms of the extension of sovereignty, order, law, and state administration, in the northern part of Kosovo, I believe that it is the first time in the last three years after 25 years that our country has managed to establish order, law, sovereignty, greater security, and state administration in the northern part of our country. It is known that for many years, almost 25 years, the real border for the citizens of Kosovo was the bridge over the Ibar, where the bridge guards were on one side and the criminal and terrorist groups that operated for years on the other. Now these groups are not there, they have fled to Serbia and were part of the attack on the sovereignty and territory of our country.”
