French President Emmanuel Macron has responded to recent statements by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, emphasizing the urgent need to halt hostilities immediately to pave the way for dialogue, reports Gazeta Sinjali.

According to Macron, he—along with other European leaders and U.S. President Donald Trump—has proposed a 30-day unconditional ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, which is expected to begin on Monday.

A ceasefire is necessary now, so that negotiations can begin,” Macron stated, underlining the critical timing of the initiative.

He further added that President Zelensky has already agreed to the proposal, and they are now awaiting a clear response from Russia.

There can be no negotiations while weapons are speaking,” Macron concluded.
