Prime Minister Edi Rama has received congratulations for the Socialist Party’s victory in the May 11 elections from French President Emmanuel Macron.
In a post on X, the head of the Élysée Palace referred to Rama as a “dear friend” and expressed France’s support for Albania’s path toward EU integration, also reminding that he will be in Tirana for the EU leaders’ summit taking place this Friday.
“Congratulations, Edi Rama, my dear friend, on your victory in the parliamentary elections. France will always stand by Albania on its path toward the European Union. We’ll meet this Friday at the European Political Community Summit and during a visit that should allow us to further strengthen our partnership!”
The French president’s message follows those of other European leaders, such as UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
