French President Emmanuel Macron stated today that France believes Israel has the right to protect itself and ensure its security, in response to recent Israeli strikes on Iran.

Macron, speaking on platform X, also reiterated that he has “repeatedly condemned” Iran’s nuclear program.

“To avoid jeopardizing the stability of the entire region, I call on all parties for the greatest restraint and de-escalation,” Macron added.

He confirmed that he had held discussions today with U.S. President Donald Trump, as well as the Saudi Crown Prince, the King of Jordan, the President of the United Arab Emirates, the Emir of Qatar, the German Chancellor, and the British Prime Minister.

Macron emphasized that all measures would be taken to protect French citizens and diplomatic and military outposts in the region, and to ensure the protection of national territory and citizens in France.

“The peace and security of all in the region should be our compass,” Macron said, adding that France is ready to cooperate with all partners to achieve de-escalation in the Middle East.
