French President Emmanuel Macron has warned that U.S. President Donald Trump may feel “deceived and betrayed” if Russia fails to provide a clear response to proposed ceasefire negotiations in Ukraine. Speaking after the EU Summit in Paris, Macron emphasized that Moscow must take a definitive stance on ending the war.

Macron also urged Chinese President Xi Jinping to play a “fully active role” in facilitating peace, citing China’s diplomatic ties with Russia and past mediation efforts with Brazil. The French leader stressed that Beijing, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, has a responsibility to contribute to a sustainable peace settlement.

To bolster Ukraine’s allies, Macron announced that he and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer will co-lead efforts to coordinate international support for Kyiv. Their focus will be on strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities and diplomatic backing amid ongoing Russian aggression.
