French President Emmanuel Macron announced that he held a phone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

In a statement shared on social media, Macron stressed the need for continuous efforts to establish a ceasefire, voicing strong support for the U.S. initiative to halt hostilities temporarily.

“I welcome the strong call for an unconditional 30-day ceasefire, as made this morning by our British and Nordic partners,”
Macron stated.

Key Points from Macron’s Statement:

  • Ukraine has shown readiness for such a ceasefire for about two months.
  • Macron emphasized: “Now it is Russia’s turn to act.”
  • If Moscow refuses, Europe is prepared to respond in full coordination with the United States.

“If this does not happen, we are ready to respond decisively, together with all Europeans and in close coordination with the United States,”
he concluded.
