A wax statue of French President Emmanuel Macron has been stolen from the Grévin Museum in Paris by Greenpeace activists, who used the act as a form of political protest, reports Rks News.
According to AFP, the activists entered the museum posing as tourists, changed clothes, covered the statue with a blanket, and smuggled it out through an emergency exit. The figure was later displayed outside the Russian embassy in Paris.
Through this action, Greenpeace denounced President Macron’s stance on French companies that continue doing business with Russia despite the ongoing war in Ukraine.
Macron, a vocal supporter of Ukraine, has played a key role in Europe’s diplomatic efforts to broker a ceasefire with Russia. The symbolic protest aimed to highlight a perceived contradiction between France’s political declarations and its economic actions.
