Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has reacted to the arrest of Nicolás Maduro by the United States, also referencing Kosovo.
Fico described Maduro’s arrest as a “violation of international law,” which he rejects, as he said he has done “in the denial of Kosovo as a sovereign state.”
Post:
The American military action in Venezuela is yet another demonstration of the collapse of the world order established after the Second World War.
International law is not being applied, military power is used without a mandate from the UN Security Council, and anyone who is big and powerful does whatever they want to promote their own interests.
As the Prime Minister of a small country, I must firmly reject such a violation of international law, just as I did during the Iraq war, in the denial of Kosovo as a sovereign state, in the use of Russian military force in Ukraine, and in the assessment of the situation in Gaza.
I am very curious to see how the EU will react to the attack in Venezuela, which deserves condemnation.
Either the use of American military force in Venezuela will be condemned and will be consistent with positions taken on the war in Ukraine, or, as usual, it will remain pharisaical.
