A large-scale anti-drug operation, codenamed “Aristeo”, has dealt a significant blow to drug trafficking in the province of Oristano, Sardinia.

The Carabinieri, in collaboration with the Sardinian Helicopter Squadron, seized 4,506 marijuana plants along with approximately 300 kilograms of processed cannabis, and arrested eight individuals, five of whom are of Colombian origin.

The operation took place on an isolated farm in the Villaurbana area, where the suspects were caught in flagrante delicto inside a warehouse used as a laboratory for drying and processing the drugs.

During the raid, authorities also discovered large quantities of dried cannabis, plastic containers with cannabis buds, cash, and packaging equipment.

Laboratory tests confirmed that the THC levels far exceeded legal limits, classifying the seized drugs as highly dangerous substances.

The cannabis plants, ranging in height from 80 cm to 1.3 meters, were professionally cultivated and watered using a modern irrigation system connected to the farm’s well.

This operation highlights the ongoing efforts of Italian law enforcement to combat organized drug trafficking and dismantle large-scale illegal cannabis operations.
