Moscow was hit by a major drone attack on Sunday night, forcing authorities to close the airspace and cancel flights.

The mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, confirmed that several drones targeted the Russian capital and its outskirts. According to him, Russian air defense systems were activated and successfully shot down nine drones over the city.

Local media reported powerful explosions across Moscow, though no casualties or material damage have been officially reported so far.

The incident caused significant disruption in air traffic. Sheremetyevo Airport was the first to impose temporary restrictions on both landings and takeoffs. Amateur videos circulating online show airplanes flying unusually low to avoid potential drone contact.

This marks yet another escalation in the ongoing conflict, with Moscow increasingly becoming the target of unmanned aerial attacks.
