Acting Minister of Defense, Ejup Maqedonci, has expressed his condolences following the death of two and the injury of three American soldiers in a terrorist attack in Syria.
In a statement published on Facebook, Maqedonci emphasized that the loss is felt even more deeply given that the fallen soldiers were from the state of Iowa—a close partner and friend of Kosovo. He highlighted the longstanding cooperation between Kosovo and Iowa through the partnership program between the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) and the Iowa National Guard.
“On this occasion, I extend my sincerest condolences to Major General Stephen E. Osborn, Commander of the Iowa National Guard, Governor Kim Reynolds, and to all the citizens of Iowa and the United States,” Maqedonci wrote.
He further stressed that the commitment of the United States to global peace and security is a noble mission, for which Kosovo remains deeply grateful.
