Kosovo’s Defence Minister Ejup Maqedonci has stated that the Kosovo Intelligence Agency has achieved significant results in countering Serbian espionage and hybrid warfare activities.

Speaking in an interview, Maqedonci praised the agency’s work, highlighting what he described as the first comprehensive and organized crackdown on Serbian spy networks in Kosovo since the post-war period.

“I highly salute the professional work of AKI and its director Petrit Ajeti in dismantling Serbian espionage networks in Kosovo. This is the first time since the war that such a coordinated and all-encompassing operation has taken place,” Maqedonci said.

He emphasized that the effort is ongoing, warning that Serbia will continue attempts to destabilize Kosovo, but stressed that national institutions remain vigilant and prepared.

According to Maqedonci, Serbia’s strategy—supported by Russia—relies heavily on hybrid warfare tactics, including disinformation campaigns and efforts to undermine public trust in state institutions.

“The goal of this hybrid warfare is to question Kosovo’s statehood and the functionality of its institutions. Through disinformation and fake news, they aim to portray our institutions as incapable of governing effectively,” he stated.

Maqedonci concluded that despite these challenges, Kosovo’s security and intelligence structures remain committed to safeguarding the country’s stability and sovereignty.
