Acting Minister of Defense, Ejup Maqedonci, addressed the situation following recent floods in Kosovo, stating that the Kosovo Security Force (FSK) is on high alert to respond wherever needed.
Speaking on the program “Info Nata” on TV1, Maqedonci explained that institutions were informed yesterday about heavy rainfall and rising river levels, which initially caused flooding in the western part of the country and later in the eastern regions.
“Once we were informed about the rainfall and rising river levels that caused floods in several areas, the FSK Commander, following assessments from the General Staff and security structures, raised the alert level with specialized units prepared to intervene in such cases,” Maqedonci stated.
He emphasized that FSK deployments are carried out based on official requests from municipalities through institutional channels.
“An important point is that we engage Kosovo Security Force units only when municipalities submit formal requests to the Situation Center of the Kosovo Security Council and the Emergency Management Agency, where it is assessed where intervention is most needed,” he added.
The Acting Minister of Defense assured that security institutions are in constant coordination and ready to assist citizens affected by the floods.
