Just a day ago, Prime Minister Albin Kurti warned that terrorist groups are planning further attacks in Kosovo during the year-end holidays, following the attack on the Ibër-Lepenc Canal.
However, the Kosovo Army is ready to respond to any threat. This is claimed by the Minister of Defense, Ejup Maqedonci, who spoke about the significant strengthening of the security forces.
According to him, the sophisticated weapons recently purchased from the United States, Turkey, and Germany have significantly enhanced Kosovo’s defense capabilities.
“We have tripled the defense budget during this mandate and have managed to purchase Bayraktar drones and other very important systems. The Javelin missiles are crucial for protection against tanks. We hope to have them by 2025,” Maqedonci stated in an interview with A2CNN.
According to the minister, “Javelin missiles do not allow the penetration of armored vehicles and tanks into our territory.”
While declaring that they will currently adhere to the commitment made in 2013 not to deploy the army in the north, Maqedonci emphasized that the issue will be reconsidered in the future.
