The Government Commission for Missing Persons announced that Martyr Agron Gjocaj, who was previously listed among the missing, has been reburied today in Deçan with full military honors.

The ceremony took place at the Martyrs’ Cemetery in Baballoq, in the presence of his family, fellow fighters, citizens, and institutional representatives, all paying tribute to his life and sacrifice for the freedom of Kosovo.

Agron Gjocaj fell on August 18, 1998, and his remains were recovered and identified in 2025 through scientific DNA analysis, respecting the family’s wishes for a dignified reburial.

“After more than 27 years of anxiety, hope, and steadfast endurance, carrying the heaviest burden has been his family. Martyr Agron Gjocaj has been reburied with the highest honors in the free land of Kosovo, which he loved and for which he gave everything,” the Commission stated.

This reburial serves as a powerful reminder that justice for the families of missing persons has not yet been fully realized and underscores the ongoing commitment to clarify the fate of every missing individual.

The Government Commission for Missing Persons reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to uncovering the truth about all missing persons and protecting families’ right to know the fate and location of their loved ones.

Eternal honor and glory to Martyr Agron Gjocaj.
