The lack of medical supplies is complicating the response to the devastating earthquake that struck Myanmar on Friday, the United Nations (UN) has warned, reports Rks News.

According to reports, the 7.7 magnitude earthquake has caused more than 1,600 deaths, with search efforts for survivors continuing. The powerful tremors were also felt in neighboring countries, including Thailand.

In Bangkok, authorities have found the 12th body under the rubble of a collapsed building, while in the city of Mandalay in Myanmar, a woman was rescued alive after being trapped under debris for 30 hours.

Meanwhile, due to the severe situation, the National Unity Government—currently in exile due to the military junta—has declared a two-week pause in military operations in the areas affected by the earthquake.
