Heavy rainfall that struck Skopje last night led to a significant rise in the Markova River’s water levels, causing it to overflow in multiple areas. The overflow has caused widespread flooding, affecting homes, warehouses, and industrial properties in villages such as Studeničan and Batinci, as well as parts of Pintija. Notably, flooding also occurred along a section of Boris Trajkovski Boulevard, near Pintija.
The Regional Crisis Management Centre in Skopje reported that the river overflowed near the bridge close to the Lubosh settlement, resulting in damage to local properties. The local authorities in Studeničan and Kisella Vodë have been quick to respond, with emergency services deployed to manage the crisis and assist those impacted.
During the night, emergency number 112 received reports of flooding in residential areas like Gorno Lisiče in the Aerodrom municipality. The local government office in the area intervened, and emergency teams, including the City of Skopje Fire and Rescue Brigade, public enterprises, and local government units, are actively managing the situation.
Authorities are keeping a close watch on the situation, prepared for any further deterioration of the weather conditions that might intensify the floods.
