The nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush, a floating airbase capable of carrying more than 80 aircraft, is set to be deployed to the U.S. Central Command region in the Middle East, according to sources who spoke to CBS News, a U.S. partner of BBC.

The massive carrier and its strike group completed pre-deployment training earlier this month and could now join U.S. operations involving Iran, U.S. officials told CBS.

Two guided-missile destroyers — USS Donald Cook and USS Mason — have also departed the United States this week to join American operations related to Iran. Another destroyer, USS Ross, has likewise left the U.S. this week, although its destination has not yet been disclosed.
