The Mayor of North Mitrovica, Milan Radojević, has been summoned to appear in court on March 4, 2026, as a defendant. The case concerns alleged failure to comply with lawful police orders.
According to the Mitrovica Regional Police Directorate – North, Radojević ignored instructions from police to remove a banner initially placed near the statue of Tsar Lazar. The banner contained religious messages but also the colors of the Serbian flag and the inscription “Serb List”, which led police to confiscate it.
Deputy Director Veton Elshani explained that the banner was later returned after review by the Ministry of Local Governance, which approved its placement without the “Serb List” reference. Radojević stated the banner was intended to commemorate Christmas and expressed his intention to place it again during future Christmas celebrations.
The hearing will take place on March 4, 2026, at 10:30 AM. Radojević, a member of the Serb List, assumed office as mayor on December 5, 2025.
