The Mayor of Ulqin, Genci Nimanbegu, has called on citizens to continue the protest tomorrow against the privatization of the Big Beach through a video message. He emphasized that the Parliament of Montenegro will continue its session tomorrow to discuss an agreement that goes against the interests of the citizens of Ulcinj.
Nimanbegu called for massive support in front of the Parliament, urging people to protect the Big Beach and emphasized that it should not be allowed to be turned into a concrete zone.
“Our battle to protect the Big Beach continues. The Parliament of Montenegro will continue tomorrow its session where it attempts to pass an agreement that contradicts our interests. Therefore, I invite you to gather in front of the Parliament of Montenegro in large numbers and to protect our pearl, the Big Beach. Let’s not allow the Big Beach to be turned into a concrete zone and ‘ghettoized’,” said Nimanbegu.
He also urged the deputies who will vote for this agreement to take responsibility for their decision, emphasizing the importance of this moment for the future of the beach.
This protest is a continuation of the actions by the residents and non-governmental organizations in Ulcinj, who oppose the leasing of the city’s beaches, which in recent years have been taken over by local businessmen. This year, the best offer has been evaluated to come from the Arab company Eagle Hills.
