Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni hands over the finalized pension treaty document, marking a milestone in Albania-Italy relations.

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama announced a significant breakthrough in bilateral ties with Italy during the recent European Political Community Summit held in Tirana. Through a heartfelt post on Facebook, Rama revealed that Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni personally delivered the final legal document for implementing the long-awaited pension agreement between the two nations.

“My sister brought to Tirana the final document of the long legislative process for the implementation of the Pension Agreement with Italy, which means that starting June 1, 2025, Albanians in Italy will begin to benefit from this meaningful agreement — marking a new level in the relations between Albania and Italy,” Rama wrote.

The agreement is expected to significantly improve the social rights of Albanians working or residing in Italy, providing better access to pension benefits and reinforcing the deepening partnership between the two countries.

This development highlights not only strengthened social protections but also the ongoing solidarity and cooperation between Albania and Italy, further enhancing their diplomatic and economic bonds.
