Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni spoke with U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday evening, just hours before her scheduled meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in London.
According to Palazzo Chigi, the conversation focused on the ongoing war in Ukraine and efforts to end the three-year-long conflict with Russia.
London Security Summit
Meloni’s meeting with Zelensky is part of a broader high-level security summit hosted by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. The summit aims to strengthen European defense coordination and discuss future military aid for Ukraine.
Attendees include leaders from Italy, Germany, France, Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain, Turkey, Finland, Sweden, the Czech Republic, and Romania. Also expected to join are NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and European Council President Antonio Costa.
This gathering underscores Europe’s commitment to Ukraine amid increasing geopolitical tensions.
