The Chairman of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Memli Krasniqi, has fiercely criticized the Vetëvendosje Movement, accusing it of holding the country hostage despite having emerged first in the recent elections. According to him, Vetëvendosje has lost its legitimacy to govern.

In his address at the party’s General Convention, Krasniqi reiterated that PDK will not support any candidate for Speaker of the Assembly who was part of the outgoing administration.

“We have acted with dignity and constructiveness during this period, putting the citizens’ and the state’s interests above all. We were determined to correct the wrong direction this outgoing government has taken the country in — through the formation of a new government with former opposition parties, with Bedri Hamza as Prime Minister. But with equal determination, we say again today: we will not vote for any candidate for Speaker of the Assembly who was part of the previous government, because we believe that Kosovo cannot move forward with those who set it back.
We are not here to support the recycling of the most failed political chapter in our state’s history. We are here to write a new chapter,” he declared.
