Merz After Trump-Putin Call: Europe Will Support Ukraine and Increase Pressure on Moscow

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has responded following the two-hour phone call between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, during which the possibility of a ceasefire in Ukraine was discussed, Rks News reports.

In a post on the social network X, Merz emphasized that Europe and America are united in their support for Ukraine and in their stance against Moscow.

“We will closely support Ukraine on its path toward a ceasefire. Europe will increase pressure on Moscow through sanctions. We are aligned with the U.S. President on this, following his conversation with Putin,” wrote Merz.
