Germany’s Friedrich Merz has welcomed the ceasefire brokered by Donald Trump between Israel and Iran, calling on both countries to respect the agreement.
“If this ceasefire succeeds following decisive U.S. military strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, it will be a very positive development,” Merz said in a post on X.
“This will make the Middle East and the world safer.”
The German Chancellor added that he will discuss ways to stabilize the situation with American and European partners on the sidelines of today’s NATO summit in The Hague.
