At least 11 people have been hospitalized following a stabbing attack at a Walmart supermarket in Traverse, Michigan, local police have announced.
Suspect Arrested on the Scene
According to Fox News, the suspect, a 42-year-old man acting alone, was arrested at the scene. Grand Traverse County Sheriff Michael Shea stated that the man “stabbed about a dozen people with a folding knife.”
Bystanders reportedly helped to apprehend the suspect and provided aid to the victims before authorities arrived. The identity of the suspect has not yet been released.
According to Munson Hospital, the condition of the injured is serious, with five people in serious condition and six in critical condition.
Traverse is a small city in northern Michigan located on the shores of Grand Traverse Bay. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to determine a motive for the attack.
