In a key diplomatic meeting on Friday, Croatian President Zoran Milanović told Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti that all European Union member states who have yet to recognize Kosovo should do so, underlining that Kosovo has met all the necessary conditions for full international recognition.
“The conditions for Kosovo’s statehood and full international recognition have been met, and Kosovo must be recognized by all EU member states that have not done so yet,” Milanović stated during his meeting with Kurti, who is currently on an official visit to Croatia.
President Milanović reiterated Croatia’s full and strong support for Kosovo’s path towards membership in all international organizations, stressing the importance of recognition for Kosovo’s continued development.
Additionally, Milanović emphasized the necessity of normalizing relations between Kosovo and Serbia, as it would bring greater stability to the Balkans, which is also in Croatia’s national interest.
Prime Minister Kurti, who had previously met with Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and Speaker of Parliament Gordan Jandroković, acknowledged Croatia’s steadfast support and reaffirmed the need for stronger cooperation with EU members to achieve Kosovo’s goals on the global stage.
This meeting highlights ongoing diplomatic efforts within the EU to push for Kosovo’s recognition and regional stability, as the tensions between Kosovo and Serbia continue to challenge European integration efforts.
