Former Montenegrin President Milo Đukanović expressed his condolences following the death of former Albanian Prime Minister Fatos Nano, describing him as one of Albania’s most distinguished politicians.
Đukanović noted that Nano left a strong mark on Albania’s democratic and economic development.
“With great sorrow, I received the news of the passing of Fatos Nano, former Prime Minister of the Republic of Albania and leader of the Socialist Party of Albania, one of the most distinguished Albanian politicians after the changes of the 1990s, in which he played a pioneering role. He left a strong imprint on the new direction of the country, its democratic and economic development, and the strengthening of regional stability,” he wrote.
He also emphasized that he would cherish the memory of Nano for his constructive cooperation and contributions to strengthening relations between the two countries.
“I will respectfully keep the memory of Fatos, for the constructive collaboration between our governments and his contribution to enhancing comprehensive neighborly relations and friendship, as well as joint efforts toward European and Euro-Atlantic strategic objectives. I extend my deepest condolences to his family, friends, and party colleagues,” Đukanović added.
