All state leaders of Serbia came together to celebrate the 34th anniversary of the Serbian Socialist Party.
The first president of this party was the former Serbian dictator known as the Butcher of the Balkans, Slobodan Milosevic.
It was Milosevic, as the leader of this party, who started four wars in former Yugoslavia.
However, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic told attendees that they should be proud of the party’s past.
“I want to congratulate you on your 34 years of existence, tireless work, and success you have achieved in these 34 years in Serbia’s political sky. You have something to be proud of in your past, and I hope you will have much more to be proud of for your work in the future,” said Vucic.
Current chairman Ivica Dacic also expressed pride in the achievements of this party.
“This is the essence of all the days we have had in these 34 years, because the history of the Serbian Socialist Party is also the history of Serbia, as we have gone through every state and national problem that our society, our country, and our people have faced over these decades,” said Dacic.
But Serbian politician Cedomir Stojkovic says this party is responsible for Serbia’s destruction throughout history.
“The contribution of this party to Serbia’s history is significant. They are directly responsible for wars, sanctions, bombings, murders, war crimes, and genocide. They are responsible for the destruction of Serbia’s economy and infrastructure. The Socialist Party isolated Serbia from civilized countries for a long time and fueled great hatred towards neighboring states,” he said.
Stojkovic further states that current leaders of this party, including Ivica Dacic, have never distanced themselves from Slobodan Milosevic’s criminal policies.
“They have never distanced themselves from Milosevic’s policies; on the contrary, they gather to remember him and even celebrate his birthdays. They see Milosevic as a historical leader, so they continue to be completely the same,” he added.
Ivica Dacic has led the Serbian Socialist Party since 2006. He is currently tasked with the position of Serbia’s Interior Minister.
