The leader of the “Alternativa” party, Mimoza Kusari-Lila, has clarified that her party will run independently in the October 12 local elections, without a coalition with Vetëvendosje (LVV).
While stating that nothing will change in their current coalition at the national level, Kusari-Lila did not confirm whether they would remain in coalition with LVV in any upcoming snap parliamentary elections, saying “that remains to be seen.”
She noted that Alternativa will field its own candidates in several municipalities, including Prishtina, Gjakova, and Peja.
“As the leader of Alternativa, this is a challenge for me, but it’s also a new opportunity—to move away from simply being on the list of a big party, and instead test our own political strength, organizational capacity, and spread our liberal ideas and vision, which doesn’t necessarily align with Vetëvendosje,” Kusari-Lila told Klan Kosova.
She added that Vetëvendosje had already made this decision regarding the local elections, and that the topic was discussed after the 2021 elections, so it’s not something new for her or her party—even if it might be news to the public.
