Minister Maqedonci Issues a Serious Warning Following Serbia’s Military Buildup

The intensive militarization of Balkan states in recent months has sparked controversy in the region, heightening concerns about the possibility of a new conflict.

Kosovo’s Minister of Defense, Ejup Maqedonci, emphasized that Serbia’s armament poses a serious warning to all Balkan countries. He pointed out that Serbia’s continued collaboration with Russia shows no signs of breaking away from this ally.

Maqedonci called for increased attention and a response from the international community to prevent a potential escalation of tensions in the region.

“We have often witnessed Serbia initiating wars in the Western Balkans when it deemed itself militarily prepared. As long as Serbia has shown no desire to join NATO or improve its relations with its neighboring state, the state of Kosovo, by recognizing it, this stage of armament by Serbia is something that NATO member states should consider. There are no observed signs of Serbia distancing itself from Russia, and it continues its cooperation. This is reminiscent of the past situations where massacres, such as the one in Srebrenica, occurred. Whenever Serbia has been tolerated, it has acted,” stated Maqedonci.
