“Albania is committed to further investing in NATO’s supportive infrastructure.”
This statement was made today by Albania’s Minister of Defense, Pirro Vengu, during a special meeting with the UK’s Special Envoy to the Western Balkans, Lord Stuart Peach, who arrived in Albania as part of the Joint Exercise “Austere Wolf – 24.”
“As a NATO member state, our country’s privileged geographical position obliges us to further invest in the supportive infrastructure for the Alliance,” Vengu said.
Minister Vengu and Lord Stuart Peach highly praised the cooperation between Albanian and British troops in the “Corridor VIII Response” exercise.
“In Corridor VIII, intensive work is being done on several sections, progressing towards the major project at the Porto Romano port, part of which will be dedicated to military use,” Vengu added.
During his conversation with the senior British official, Minister Vengu discussed the security situation in the region, including northern Kosovo, where Albania not only welcomes NATO’s decision to increase troop presence but has also boosted the presence of Albanian military personnel in the KFOR mission.
Vengu also briefed Lord Peach on the steps Albania has taken to network its Military Industry, inviting British agencies and companies to invest and collaborate.
