The Ministry of Finance of Kosovo and the KfW Development Bank, in the presence of the German Ambassador Rainer Rudolph, have signed agreements worth €81 million aimed at advancing reforms and accelerating the energy transition in Kosovo.

According to the Ministry, the package includes a €80 million loan and a €1 million grant, which will directly support the implementation of reforms in the energy sector, in line with standards of the European Union and the Energy Community.

Finance Minister Hekuran Murati stated that this support will contribute to modernizing the legal framework and increasing the flexibility of the electricity market, enabling further integration into regional and European markets, while also encouraging investments in renewable energy sources.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Energy Division at KfW, Pablo Obrador Alvarez, described this as the first program of its kind for Kosovo, complementing existing support and laying the foundation for further modernization and integration of the energy sector.

The Ministry emphasized that the agreement marks an important step toward building a more sustainable, secure, and integrated energy system, supporting the country’s economic development and green transition.
