Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the Removal of the Sign in Murinë: Respect for Kosovo’s Sovereignty and Territorial Integrity

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo has reacted regarding the sign in Murinë that referred to the city of Peja as “Peć SRB.”

In a statement, the ministry welcomed its removal.

“The Ministry welcomes this action by the Montenegrin authorities and considers it an important step toward maintaining good neighborly relations and fully respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Kosovo,” said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Republic of Kosovo has followed with concern the case of the placement of a sign in Murinë, with the inscription “Peć Srb,” containing unacceptable content and contradicting the spirit of good neighborliness and mutual respect between states.

Immediately upon receiving information about this case, the Ministry, through the Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo in Podgorica, took the necessary actions to address this issue with the competent institutions of Montenegro.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs the public that following this institutional engagement, the sign in question has been removed.

The Ministry welcomes this action by the Montenegrin authorities and considers it an important step toward maintaining good neighborly relations and fully respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Kosovo.

On this occasion, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs thanks the activists and residents of the area for their engagement and civic response in raising public awareness and defending shared democratic and inter-neighborly values.

The Republic of Kosovo remains committed to building and further strengthening its relations with Montenegro, in the spirit of mutual cooperation, good neighborliness, and European values.
