The Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade (MINT) has approved a decision to regulate the prices of oil-based transport fuels, aiming to protect consumers and ensure fair market competition in Kosovo.

This measure comes after continuous market monitoring by MINT, in cooperation with the Kosovo Customs and the Central Market Surveillance Inspectorate. Their analysis showed that fuel prices tend to rise immediately following import price increases, but do not decrease accordingly when import prices fall.

To address this imbalance, MINT has now set maximum allowable profit margins for oil product sales:

Wholesale margin: up to €0.02 per liter

Retail margin: up to €0.12 per liter

The decision will come into force one day after publication in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Kosovo. It will be followed by enhanced market inspections, conducted by the Trade Inspectorate in coordination with the Kosovo Customs and the Tax Administration.

The ministry emphasized that this action was taken to ensure a more equitable and sustainable market, protect consumer interests, and curb unfair pricing practices.
