Prishtina, Kosovo – June 11, 2025 – Police officer Mirsad Kryeziu testified today in the “Banjska” case, asserting that the weapons used by the armed group in Banjska against the Kosovo Police could only have been organized by a military structure. He based this assessment on his personal experience from wartime.

“The weapons used ranged from light to heavy artillery,” Kryeziu stated. “I say that all the weapons used and deployed by such an organization, and I say this with full conviction, were organized only by a military structure. From my work and war experience, I know all types of weapons, their function, and their use.”

The officer further testified that the attackers constituted a structured group, directed by a military structure. According to him, this is evident from their preparations and the chosen timing of the attack.

“The attackers’ goal, in my opinion, was not a first-time occurrence. Throughout the time we were stationed in the northern part of Mitrovica, we were not desired by these very same individuals who are organized for such things,” he added. “I can freely say that there were other attacks on police patrols during their duties. Why this position? Because this group was well-structured and well-directed by a military structure. Their position was extremely suitable for attacking the police; that’s why they chose Banjska and the Monastery, which had pilgrims that day, using them, placing themselves in good and favorable positions. It is clear that they were well-structured, so that if they did not succeed, they could withdraw. People who do not know military structures would use a different position.”
