The National Army of Moldova has deployed its 22nd contingent of soldiers to the NATO-led peacekeeping mission in Kosovo (KFOR).
During the official ceremony, officials from the Ministry of Defense and General Staff of the National Army, ambassadors, military attachés, and the families of the soldiers attended to mark the occasion.
11 Years of Contribution to KFOR
“Moldova has maintained a presence in the KFOR mission for 11 years, demonstrating that the Republic of Moldova is a reliable partner and that our National Army is effectively trained to meet international standards,” stated Moldova’s Minister of Defense, Anatolie Nosatii.
He expressed confidence that the new contingent would meet expectations, just as previous Moldovan troops have demonstrated professionalism and dedication during their missions.
Mission Overview
The 41-member contingent includes seven engineers, a staff officer, and a platoon of 33 infantry soldiers. Over the next six months, they will be responsible for security, guarding military installations, and patrolling within their designated operational area.
Stationed at Camp Villaggio Italia in Peja, the Moldovan troops will serve as part of the KFOR Regional Command-West, contributing to the multinational peacekeeping effort in Kosovo.
