Ukë Rugova, the son of former President Ibrahim Rugova, will be on the LDK party list for parliamentary elections, party leader Lumir Abdixhiku announced yesterday.
The decision was symbolically announced on the birthday of the late President Rugova. Abdixhiku visited the Rugova family on the occasion of the former president’s 81st birthday, where he was welcomed by Fanë Rugova, the president’s widow.
In a brief speech, Fanë Rugova expressed her joy over her son’s decision to join the LDK parliamentary list, noting her hope that he will serve as a driving force for the party’s progress.
“Today I am happy that Ukë, together with all of you, will enter the parliament. I wish that Ukë will act as an authoritative voice and a major driving force for you all to move forward with confident and concrete steps for the good of the LDK and everyone,” Fanë Rugova said.
Ukë Rugova responded with a playful remark, joking that his mother would have been the best candidate himself.
“Mom would have been the best candidate for parliament,” he said.
“Ukë, I am reconsidering now. She delivered the best speech,” Abdixhiku reacted, thanking Fanë Rugova for her kind words.
