The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro has rejected as “unfounded and baseless” the claims made by Serbia following Podgorica’s statement supporting Kosovo’s membership in international organizations, reports Rks News.
In an official statement, the Montenegrin Foreign Ministry emphasized that attempts to portray its position as a threat to Serbia’s interests are completely unjustified. It also expressed concern over the framing of support for Kosovo as an “anti-Serb act,” noting that similar messages of support come from many other countries.
Earlier, Montenegrin Foreign Minister Ervin Ibrahimović stated that Montenegro will support Kosovo’s membership in the European Union and the Council of Europe, stressing that this stance does not endanger the ruling coalition, even though some parties within it do not recognize Kosovo’s independence.
