Russia has sharply criticized Germany after Chancellor Friedrich Merz suggested that Ukraine can now use long-range weapons in its defense against Moscow.

“These are very dangerous decisions, if indeed they have been made,” said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

He was responding to Merz’s earlier statement, in which the German Chancellor declared that there should no longer be any range restrictions on weapons supplied to Ukraine — whether by the UK, France, Germany, or the United States.

It remains unclear whether Merz’s remarks signal an actual policy shift or if he was referring to the use of some Western missiles against Russian territory, a practice that has reportedly occurred since late last year.
