Ivan Vuković, vice-president of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) and a member of the Montenegrin parliament, has been detained in Belgrade by Serbia’s Security and Information Agency (BIA).
The Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), led by former Montenegrin president Milo Đukanović, confirmed this information.
DPS officials stated that a person close to Vuković, who was with him privately in Belgrade, reported that BIA agents arrested him while he was leaving the “Hilton” hotel. According to a source present during the arrest, several individuals in uniform, and two in civilian clothes who introduced themselves as BIA members, detained him in front of the elevator.
Vuković explained to them that he was in Belgrade accompanying a family member for health reasons and was preparing to return to Montenegro. Despite this, he was detained.
DPS stated they have no information regarding his current location and are trying to hire a lawyer.
Notably, Vuković had shared a video from the student protests in Belgrade on his personal Facebook account the night before.
