Flight operations at Munich Airport in southern Germany were temporarily suspended on Saturday morning following reports of a drone sighting, according to German media outlets.
At approximately 9:00 a.m., operations at Munich Airport were completely halted, with no flights able to take off or land after authorities received reports of a “suspicious sighting,” RKS News reports.
Germany’s Federal Police stated that a potentially unauthorized flying object had been detected in the vicinity of the airport’s runway.
By around 10:05 a.m., BILD reported that flight operations had been cleared to resume.
“A search conducted by the Federal Police did not uncover any suspicious findings,” a spokesperson told the media.
According to local reports, passengers had been informed that the airport would remain closed until “at least 10:00 a.m.,” while a police helicopter was deployed to search for the suspected drone.
Several police officers were also reported to be on site at Munich Airport, conducting ground searches and gathering information related to the alleged drone activity.
