Acting Minister of Finance Hekuran Murati has sharply criticized the Municipality of Prishtina for failing to execute payments, even though the Treasury had allocated funds for December in advance. Murati emphasized that the allocation was made earlier than usual, on Friday afternoon, to ensure that essential bills, including electricity, could be paid on time.
However, according to Murati, municipal staff ended their workday without making any payments, planning instead to process them only on Monday.
“Initially, I was surprised, because this behavior did not correspond to the urgency presented when they requested the early allocation,” Murati wrote on Facebook.
He further accused the Mayor of Prishtina, Përparim Rama, and the deputy mayors of spreading anti-government propaganda, falsely claiming that the government had blocked the payments. Murati stressed that the payments could have been executed on Friday itself.
Murati also linked this inaction to the LDK deputies’ vote against the Prishtina budget, asserting that the opposition is artificially creating crises without real cause.
