Hekuran Murati, a deputy from the Self-Determination Movement (VV), stated that deputies who are not voting in favor of Albulena Haxhiu for Speaker of the Assembly should change their votes.

Murati emphasized that Haxhiu will remain the party’s candidate for Speaker in every upcoming vote. He mentioned that the process of forming and constituting the institutions is ongoing, and VV, as the winning party, is focused on its completion. However, he stressed that aside from their votes in favor, there is little VV can do.

He said, “We’ve seen that some opposition party deputies are now unsure whether they will change their position or not. I hope that by today, they have made their decision to switch from voting against to voting in favor, so we can move forward and constitute the Assembly. We have noticed that even those parties that participated in consultative meetings were not genuinely interested in reaching a consensus. Haxhiu is our candidate in every future vote.

Murati also noted a decrease in the number of votes against Haxhiu, from 46 to 41, and expressed hope that the opposition would take responsibility and stop blocking the formation of the Assembly.

The fifth vote for Haxhiu today failed to secure the necessary votes for her election as Speaker. The session has been postponed until Tuesday at 10:00 AM.
