Finance Minister Hekuran Murati stated that after the approval of the budget and international agreements in the Assembly, Prime Minister Albin Kurti will turn his attention to discussions with political parties regarding the election of the new president.

Speaking at a press conference alongside the Central Bank of Kosovo (CBK) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Murati said that Kurti is ready to seek a solution together with other parties.

“Regarding the issue of the president, the Prime Minister emphasized during yesterday’s meeting that once the three urgent steps are completed — one of them being the approval of the budget and the international agreements with expiring deadlines — he is ready to sit down with the other political parties in the Assembly and discuss how to find a solution to move forward,” Murati said.

Following the formation of the tenth legislature, the approval of yesterday’s three agenda items, and the session expected today in the Assembly for the budget and international agreements, the next step on the local political stage is reaching consensus among political parties on the name of the new president.

President Vjosa Osmani was elected by the Assembly on April 4, 2021, receiving 71 votes in the third round of voting.
