Kosovo’s acting Minister of Finance, Hekuran Murati, responded to the delayed budget installment for RTK, blaming opposition parties for keeping the Assembly from being constituted.

Murati explained that, under the law, the budget allocation for RTK requires a decision by the Parliamentary Committee on Budget, which is currently non-functional due to a lack of quorum. He accused the opposition of blocking the formation of institutions and then wrongfully blaming the government for a situation they themselves caused.

He reminded that, to avoid such problems, the Budget Committee had approved a six-month payment in December 2024, but no one had anticipated that PDK, LDK, and AAK would block the Assembly for so long — solely to oppose Albulena Haxhiu’s appointment as Speaker of the Assembly.

Murati called this “a destructive capacity beyond imagination”, adding that the opposition has remained silent on the proposal to ensure that the Deputy Speaker position no longer goes to the Serb List.
