Vetëvendosje Movement (VV) deputy Hekuran Murati has criticized other political parties for their continued boycott of Assembly voting, accusing them of violating the Constitution.
Murati stated that the opposition has refused over 30 times to fulfill their constitutional obligation to participate in secret voting. The VV deputy added that the lack of participation in voting is what constitutes a constitutional violation.
“We have seen opposition parties refuse over 30 times to carry out their constitutional obligation for secret voting, and they have sent it to the Constitutional Court. Until now, perhaps they might have had reasons. Now, we have read the judgment, which in no single point states such a thing,” Murati declared to reporters.
“The secret ballot emphasizes that deputies can vote in a secret ballot and that it is the obligation of every present deputy to participate in the voting. Those who violated the Constitution themselves were the opposition deputies by not participating in the voting, the violators of the Constitution even in this session, now confirmed by the judgment. We have heard them claim, through lawyers, to give interpretations of the Constitutional Court’s judgment.”
