Acting Minister of Finance and Vetëvendosje MP Hekuran Murati has responded to PDK MP Abelard Tahiri, who accused him of excluding Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) veterans, families of martyrs, and war invalids from the minimum wage scheme.

Murati stated that during his tenure as minister, pensions for war-related categories were increased by at least 20%, while under PDK’s governance they did not increase at all.

He also reminded that between 2014 and 2017, when PDK governed in coalition with LDK, Article 18 of the law linking veterans’ pensions to the minimum wage was removed at the request of the IMF. According to him, this happened because the lists of veterans had been inflated with individuals who did not meet the criteria, which risked escalating costs to the point of threatening financial stability.

Furthermore, Murati clarified that pensions for the families of martyrs and war invalids were never tied to the minimum wage, arguing that this “proves how little Abelard Tahiri knows about the topic.”

He also highlighted that under his leadership, the FSK’s budget was quadrupled, for the first time fulfilling NATO’s requirement of 2% of GDP for defense spending.

“These are the facts,” Murati concluded.

Meanwhile, Tahiri published another statement today, claiming that Vetëvendosje has so far nominated candidates for Speaker of Parliament who hold a ‘dark record’ against the Kosovo Liberation Army—the latest being Murati himself.
